Back Porch Pets

Our back porch is a happening place once the sun goes down. The kids and I spend hours out there just watching the critters. The bugs and toads are very entertaining. We've let Phoebe take care of the skunk chasing. Dang dog, she's been into a skunk twice in the past week and a half. She actually had to sleep outside, almost broke her heart.

Cool walking sticks. They change colors to match what they're sitting on. This one's on Dan's shoe. They're big aren't they? That's my hand for reference.

Big tarantula that showed up tonight. I was too jumpy to put my hand by this one, he was jumpy too. He's one of the biggest ones I've ever seen, even in pet stores.

One of the toads that comes to our back porch every night. Some nights there are 7 or 8 of them out there. We have so many june bugs and the kids love to feed them to the toads (big kids too.) We got a cool video to show you why they keep coming back even with so many people around. They are hand fed by the children and actually seem to enjoy it.

3 bugs in 30 seconds. Luck toads. Our boys' friends are having so much fun learning out here too. Kind of like biology class but funner. High class entertainment huh?

That looks like fun. Well, except the spider. I don't think I would have gotten close enough to get a picture, much less add my hand in the shot.
