Proud of our boys

Today was the end of the year awards ceremony for the first graders. We are proud to say that both boys are going through to the second grade with flying colors. The school here gives a special award they call the Proud Eagle. Each teacher chooses two students from their class that are excellent students, leaders and classroom citizens. We were very excited when Dylan and his best friend Elliot were the Proud Eagles for the last 6 week session of the school year. We love Elliot, he just fits in around here like he is really the long lost triplet to the twins. It is so nice that the boys are both choosing friends that are good examples and compete with them for who can be the best students.

Dylan was also recognized with a special award for being an excellent citizen for his classroom all year. His teacher says she just loved having him. He seems very happy in the school here. He met the AR reading goal that was set for the students starting in January, even though he didn't start until March. His teacher finally shut him down so the other students had more time on the computer for testing so they could meet their goals too. So he took it on himself to help the kids that were struggling to meet their goals. He would help them with words and even read some of the books out loud to the others until they could read them themselves.

DJ recieved certificates for being an A+ speller and an excellent student and reader. He met the AR reading goal that was set for all of the students in January, even though he didn't start until March. He has picked a couple of really cool little friends too. We are excited to get to know them better this summer.

We are very proud of them both!!
